Not Ready for Prime Time Agility Workshop

Get Ready for Prime Time!

This 18-day online workshop is designed specifically for handlers and dogs who “aren’t quite ready for prime time.” It’s perfect for you if any of these scenarios sound familiar:

Do you already compete in agility but are frustrated by missed obstacles, spins after jumps or side changes, refusals, or time faults? Or does your dog do things in trials that they never do in practice, like get the zoomies, visit the ring stewards, walk or trot through sequences, or sniff the ground? If your dog’s trial performance isn’t matching the skills you see them demonstrate at home and training class, it’s time to get focused with your training so you can get confident, successful trial performances!

Or, do you want to start trialing but are having trouble running some sequences without faults, and you’re wondering how you can close the gap between “not quite ready” and “ready” for the ring?

Karen and Brenna will address the common challenges that affect Novice and Open dogs, dogs that have quickly moved from Novice to Excellent, as well as dogs that are on the cusp of being ready to compete, so that you can build confidence, improve consistency, and perform as a team when it matters most.

Topics addressed include:
Fixing front crosses
Rehabbing rear crosses
Bolstering blind crosses
Strengthening go-ons
Cleaning up 180 and 270 jump sequences
Recognizing ring stress (and what to do about it)
Preparing with proofing
Using rewards and reinforcement
Handler mindset
And more!

How does an online workshop work? On Sept. 2, you’ll have access to all of the course materials, which include video presentations with explanations and demonstrations, and written materials (text covering each topic and course maps in multiple formats). You can watch, read, and study at your convenience. When you’re ready, go out and practice the first course!

On Sept. 4, there will be a live Q&A session. If you can’t attend in person, you can ask questions in the classroom Discussion thread for Brenna and Karen to address during the Q&A. The Q&A will be recorded for those who can’t attend in person.

From Sept. 2 until Sept. 20, you can upload videos of your team working (the quantity depends on which type of registration you purchase) and receive feedback. You can also ask questions. The instructors will be in the classroom on a daily basis, so take advantage of it!
